Michigan Church of God Celebrates Centennial

The year was 1921. Detroit was starting to mass produce automobiles, Henry Ford was selling his Model T for $410, and the Church of God entered the Pleasant Peninsula! At the 1921 General Assembly, Efford Haynes was appointed as Overseer of Ohio and Michigan, and soon afterward a congregation was organized in Detroit and another in the Upper Peninsula town of Bessemer.

Churches Threatened by Volcano Eruption

Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa–Dr. Peter Thomas, Field Director for the Church of God in Africa, reports that an eruption of the deadly volcano, Mt. Nyiragongo, in the eastern Congo, is threatening the entire city of Goma with great destruction and potential loss of many lives. It is the first time the volcano has erupted in 20 years.

The paper, entitled, “Paul’s Teaching on Same-Sex Relations in Romans 1 and 1Corinthians 6” was written by Dr. Terry Cross, Dean at Lee University’s School of Religion and a member of the D&P Committee.
