Youth and Discipleship Appointments Announced

Cleveland, TN—The Department of Youth and Discipleship has announced changes in the leadership of state directors in several states and at the International Offices. The appointments follow the recent election of Brian Yaun to the post of Assistant Director of Youth and Discipleship.

Yaun was serving as state director in Tennessee and assumed his new post effective July 1. The vacancy at Tennessee will be filled by current state youth and discipleship director at South Carolina, Scottie Hager and his wife, Melissa. Coming to South Carolina from Texas will be Chad and Jennifer Fickett. Matthew and Jennifer Propes have been approved to be the new state director of Texas after serving in Ohio, while Max Reyes and his wife Rebecca, who have been youth and discipleship directors in Michigan, will now be serving in Ohio. Coming to Michigan will be Ernie and Michelle Wright, currently serving in the Heartland Region.

“All these state/regional appointments come following the untimely passing of our International Director Dr. David Blair back in March,” stated Rob Bailey, who was elevated to international director. “While our prayers continue to go out to the Blair family, at the same time we are confident that David would be pleased with the quality of directors who have accepted these new ministry appointments.”

Bailey explained that although the international department recommends potential candidates to be placed as state youth directors, each respective state administrative bishop nominate and state councils elect.

In addition to the state/regional director appointments, Bailey also announced the addition of Daniel Maples as Youth and Discipleship Coordinator at the International Offices. Maples and his wife, Jordan, have been serving as state directors in Illinois. Youth Director vacancies at Heartland and Illinois will soon be filled, according to Bailey.

Effective dates of the transitions vary,  but all will be in place by the end of the summer. Administrative bishops, youth and discipleship directors, and International Offices administrators will gather for a “Leadership Summit,” set for September 15-17, 2021.
