Fourth Edition of ‘Ancient Israel’ Book Available This Month

The Biblical Archaeology Society (BAS) has a fully revised and updated edition of “Ancient Israel: From Abraham to the Roman Destruction of the Temple” coming soon in early June. A seminal title first introduced in 1988 by BAS founding editor Hershel Shanks, it has sold more than 30,000 copies.

Churches Threatened by Volcano Eruption

Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa–Dr. Peter Thomas, Field Director for the Church of God in Africa, reports that an eruption of the deadly volcano, Mt. Nyiragongo, in the eastern Congo, is threatening the entire city of Goma with great destruction and potential loss of many lives. It is the first time the volcano has erupted in 20 years.

‘Shepherd’s Men’ to Honor Post-9/11 Veterans

The Shepherd’s Men, a 10-member team of active duty, medically retired and honorably discharged servicemen and civilian patriots dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the Atlanta-based Shepherd Center’s SHARE Military Initiative, will kick off their seventh annual Shepherd’s Men Run in Arlington, Va. at the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima Memorial) on May 24. The seven days, May 24-31—will be filled with running, rucking and swimming in Baltimore, Maryland; Arlington and Lynchburg, Virginia; Mt. Juliet and Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Athens and Atlanta, Georgia.
