After a year of virtually no camp meeting gatherings due to Covid-19 restrictions, the 2021 season begins in earnest this week with seven states/regions holding the summer staple event of the Church of God.
Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa–Dr. Peter Thomas, Field Director for the Church of God in Africa, reports that an eruption of the deadly volcano, Mt. Nyiragongo, in the eastern Congo, is threatening the entire city of Goma with great destruction and potential loss of many lives. It is the first time the volcano has erupted in 20 years.
Members of the Church of God Doctrine and Polity (D&P) Committee have released the latest from their research on contemporary cultural topics. The paper, entitled, “Paul’s Teaching on Same-Sex Relations in Romans 1 and 1Corinthians 6” was written by Dr. Terry Cross, Dean at Lee University’s School of Religion and a member of the D&P Committee.
The 2021 Ministerial Internship Program (MIP) Commissioning Celebration is set for this coming Friday, May 21, and Saturday, May 22, at 8:00 p.m. EDT.
The Church of God Migration Crisis Initiative will be offering an online training seminar this summer on The Church and the Migration Crisis. This seminar is designed to equip pastors and church leaders with the biblical, theological, historical, legal, pastoral, and ministerial foundations to positively and proactively respond to the migration crisis facing immigrant communities. The seminar is open to pastors, ministers, and church leaders in the Church of God, as well as other Christian leaders who are interested in learning more about the subject.
