PTS Professor Awarded ‘Higher Doctorate’ by British University

Cleveland, TN—Dr. John Christopher Thomas, Clarence J. Abbott Professor of Biblical Studies at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary, has been awarded a Higher (Senior) Doctorate by Bangor University in Bangor, Wales, where he also serves as the Director of the Centre for Pentecostal and Charismatic Studies.

Carl and Beverly Richardson Inducted Into Hall of Prophets

Wimauma, Fla.–On Thursday, June 17 Carl and Beverly Richardson were formally inducted into the prestigious Pentecostal Theological Seminary Hall of Prophets. The induction was hosted during the Florida (Tampa) Camp Meeting under the leadership of Bishop Tim Brown, administrative bishop, and coordinated by Pastor John Morgan.

Smoky Mountain Children’s Home Receives National Accreditation

Sevierville, TN–Over the past eighteen months, the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home (SMCH) has been involved in a wall-to-wall review of all of its programs by the Council on Accreditation, (COA) of New York. The organization also provides accreditation for the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services. Recently the accrediting body announced that SMCH has officially received national accreditation for the next four years, through July 1, 2025.

Historical Commission Announces Conn Historical Writing Award Winners

Cleveland, TN–The Church of God Historical Commission recently announced the winners of the Charles W. Conn Historical Writing Award. The 2018-2020 award winners are Lyle Esau for his book, Reflections: The History of International Bible College [Canada] (Tellwell Talent, 2019), and to Dr. Debbie Bilbo Murray for her article-length chapter, “A Life Around Lee” in High Callings: Vocational Narratives of Lee University Faculty at the Century Mark (Cleveland, TN: Lee University Press, 2018).

Lee Summer Music Camp Begins June 21

Cleveland, TN–Lee University’s 2021 summer music camp will take place June 21-26 for rising 9th graders through rising college freshmen. Five different tracks of involvement are offered to accommodate the needs of everyone, from the casual music lover to the serious music student preparing to move into a college music program.

Brian K. Yaun Elected Assistant International Youth & Discipleship Director

Cleveland, TN: The International Executive Committee announced today that Brian K. Yaun has been elected to serve as the Assistant International Director of Youth and Discipleship. Yaun is currently serving as the Youth Director for the State of Tennessee.
