SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS–The Church of God Chaplain’s Commission held their bi-ennial conference recognizing and honoring military and institutional chaplains on August 2-4 at the Hilton Palacio Del Rio. As part of the celebration, two landmark dates were celebrated: 50 years since the Church of God commissioned its first chaplain and 30 years since the founding the Chaplains Commission.

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS–Excitement was in the air as international delegates began registering for the 72nd International General Assembly World Missions pre-assembly, Saturday, August 2, 2008. Missionaries from around the world came with anticipation. “We are so excited to be here,” many missionaries said as they arrived at the Hyatt Regency in downtown San Antonio.

This summer, July 2008, the Church of God chaplaincy celebrated its 50th anniversary. It was in July 1958 that Edward E. Shoupe reported to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, to become the first Church of God chaplain to serve in the United States Armed Forces.
