Making Christmas Possible

Once again, December 2008 brought a lot of excitement for our people. It was a wonderful feeling for us as we watched the UPS and ground Express trucks roll in with the deliveries. Wrapping a gift or filling a shoebox of goodies might not seem like much to you, but the compassion behind it meant everything to both us and our people here.

We were able to have a joyous Christmas celebration full of fellowship, food, door prizes, singing and most importantly the Christmas message that warmed our souls. We were able to give gifts for the children, adults and the homeless, despite the harsh weather conditions. We also delivered some gifts to the homes and shelters of those who could not come out due to the cold weather or health issues.

What we saw and heard was that these gifts truly were Christmas to many families who have many kids and cannot afford any presents. What we also heard from the homeless is that they do not want to be forgotten. We cannot thank you enough for remembering them and making Christmas happen for our Church on the Standing Rock Reservation. Their lives have been touched far beyond the gift. It is remarkable to know that we have never had the funds to provide a Christmas celebration of any kind but the Lord has always come through for us, through your kind and giving hearts. We give God all the glory for His blessings in the past year.

Our sincere appreciation and thanks goes out to everyone who took part in our shoebox ministry, and made this Christmas possible for the Standing Rock Reservation.
