Mac & Jeans Day
Monday, November 3, 2008 was “Mac & Jeans Day” at Cleveland (Tenn.) High School. Hundreds of students participated in this charitable “food-raiser” to benefit the Tyler H. Carver Children’s Home in Guyana, South America.
During a recent visit to South America, the Carver family and Zach Brooks (friend of Tyler Carver) learned the most requested meal by the orphans is a box of macaroni and cheese from the United States. Cleveland High School allows annual “jean days” for fundraisers, but Zach had an idea to allow CHS students to wear jeans if they brought a box of macaroni and cheese for the orphans.
Nearly 800 boxes of macaroni and cheese were donated by caring students and donors for the Tyler H. Carver Children’s Home. When the total was given to Cleveland High Principal Chuck Rockholt, the principal donated an additional 200 boxes to bring the donation total to one thousand boxes for the children.
The Carver family was on hand to witness the amazing outpouring of support for this great cause. Special thanks is given to all those who assisted in advertising this important event and helped in the collection of hundreds of boxes of macaroni and cheese to be sent to South America.
