The Big M Summit, sponsored by the Church of God Division of Education, was held September 13-14 at the Church of God of East Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY. Dr. R.C. Hugh Nelson serves as the lead pastor at East Flatbush, where he is creating a new model/approach to ministry for the 21st-century church.
Sevierville, TN—Church of God Smoky Mountain Children’s Home (SMCH) Executive Director Dr. Walt Mauldin recently announced that supporters Ron and Betty Ogle of Sevierville have donated a 5,000 square foot house, as well as two empty lots to the SMCH. The property’s worth exceeds $500,000. Since SMCH provides housing benefits for all full-time caregivers, the need for staff housing is a continual need.
As October begins, only five Global Ministry Forums are left to be conducted. The forums began earlier this year as a way to generate discussion on four critical topics heading into the 2020 International General Assembly. Ministers and laity who have not previously attended a forum are encouraged to participate in one of the remaining forums.
This summer, forty-eight credentialed Church of God ministers gathered in Trinidad for Community Service Chaplaincy training.
Local congregations of the Church of God in the state of South Carolina have embraced a soul-winning effort to reach homes in their cities and towns. The project, launched earlier this year, is called “Saturate South Carolina.”
Members of the Church of God Doctrine and Polity Committee have released a second paper dealing with the issue of women in ministry and leadership.
