This summer, July 2008, the Church of God chaplaincy celebrated its 50th anniversary. It was in July 1958 that Edward E. Shoupe reported to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, to become the first Church of God chaplain to serve in the United States Armed Forces.
In the children’s book “God Has a Purpose for Me”, young Aya hears a sermon at church about fulfilling God’s purpose in her life. She decides to begin right away by doing things she thinks will make the Lord happy. Exhausted and confused by her efforts, she turns to her family and learns what fulfilling God’s purpose in one’s life really means.
These are a few of the questions that have come to World Missions recently and have been answered by Assistant Director Douglas LeRoy:
July 14-16 was three days of intense orientation followed by a commissioning service with General Director Roland Vaughan preaching. Missionaries were anointed with oil by Vaughan, General Overseer G. Dennis McGuire, and former General Overseer Ray H. Hughes, Sr. and prayed for by staff and guests.
