The word that most adequately describes this age is crisis. Political convulsions, national upheaval, racial unrest, rebellion against the existing order and outright revolution are becoming almost normal. We know that tomorrow’s headlines will probably bring some new crisis to our attention.

At the upcoming 2014 Church of God General Assembly, a special resolution regarding adoption will be presented to the International General Council. Its purpose is to raise awareness and motivate action within the Church of God for families to open their hearts and homes to orphan children.

International Cooperating Ministries (ICM), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to nurture believers and assist Church growth worldwide, is partnering with musicians to reach the world for Christ.

Next month Victory Christian Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, one of the city’s largest churches, will raise up a new leader. Paul Daugherty—who will turn 29 three days after he becomes the church’s senior pastor—is the youngest child of founding pastors Sharon and the late Billy Joe Daugherty.

One of the five focused upon is Redemption Point Church in Ooltewah, Tennessee. A 15-year-old girl who survived a shooting rampage that took the lives of her parents and all four of her siblings, spoke to a crowd Saturday, saying happiness can be found in the darkest of times. Her grandfather said she recalled feeling “as though angels were with her, putting her hands over her mouth and whispering her to be quiet.”

Stanley Monroe Horton, 98, of Springfield, Missouri, died on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Maranatha Village in Springfield.
