The leader of the nation’s largest veterans organization criticized last week’s decision by the 9th Circuit Court to remove a cross from a World War I veterans memorial in California’s Mojave Desert as the beginning of the “slippery slope of extreme secularism.”

According to statistics released earlier this summer, religious books were the publishing industry’s fastest-growing category last year, with Bible sales alone exceeding 25 million copies. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for the $4.5 billion Christian products industry,* which runs the gamut from books and videos to toys, games and, now, even insurance.

The International Church of God in Drebecen, Hungary, under the leadership of pastor Ed and Syble Courtney, is leading the way in establishing a very effective campus ministry at the main medical school.

The prayer vigil will be held on Monday, September 10, at 8:00 P.M. The group will be praying for President Bush and congressional leadership as they weigh the recommendations put forward by General Petraeus in his report to Congress concerning the future of Iraq.

The 10th annual, nationwide “Scriptures in Schools Week” is scheduled for September 23-29. Christian students, teachers, and staff in public schools throughout America are encouraged to bring their Bibles to school.

Hurricane Felix has now become a Tropical Depression and is slowly heading west and, hopefully soon, out of Honduras. The remaining threats are heavy rainfall and sudden rushes in the rivers from the mountainous areas, which could lead to severe flooding. Various communities in San Pedro Sula suffered some flooding, but for now everything is calm.
