CLEVELAND, TN–An important gathering of elected and appointed Church of God leaders is taking place this week at the International Offices as members of the International Council are gathering to discuss issues of vital importance to the future of global ministry in the Church of God.

The White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives will convene a Conference On Youth And Education In The Hispanic Community. This conference will bring together community leaders and government officials to exchange ideas on how best to provide students with a quality education.

I keep remembering the devastation the poor Moskito people are going through, and thinking about the hunger they will be facing in the coming year due to their crops being lost…it makes me sad.

I’ve been holding my tongue for a few weeks since I learned that Bishop Thomas Weeks III was arrested after being accused of kicking, choking and hitting his wife, prominent preacher Juanita Bynum, in a hotel parking lot in Atlanta on Aug. 22. We did not need another embarrassing display of religious hypocrisy played out in the national media.

Uganda Flooding

National Overseer of Uganda Bishop Joseph Kagarama reports that many Church of God churches have been affected by the recent heavy rains and flooding.

In a close 4-3 decision on Tuesday, the Maryland Court of Appeals, ruling in Conaway v. Deane, smacked down arguments by the ALCU, nine homosexual couples and a lower state circuit court which had earlier ruled that Maryland’s law reaffirming the true definition of marriage as the union between one man and one woman amounted to unconstitutional “sex discrimination.”
