Reformation Sunday is October 30

Category: Church of God News

On October 30, 2011 every Church of God congregation is asked to designate a special love offering exclusively for aged ministers and widows.

In 1992 the Church of God General Assembly declared one Sunday a year to focus on honoring those who have gone before us, blazing the trails of ministry through evangelism, pastoring and church planting. These saints of God are worthy of recognition and support and Reformation Sunday is the venue in which to do it.

Church of God General Overseer Dr. Raymond Culpepper is asking pastors across the nation to give high priority to the offering this year, especially in light of the economic climate which has particularly affected aged and retired ministers. One-fourth of the offering will be used to help fund financial assistance to aged ministers with emergency needs. The remainder will be given as a special love gift from the church to retired ministers and widows at Christmas.

A special PowerPoint presentation has been developed for Reformation Sunday and is available for download on the Church of God Web site, www.churchofgod.org. Pastors are requested to use it to promote this special day of commemoration for these warriors of the faith.
