Widows Center Supporting Operation Christmas Blessing
Excitement has run rampant as the residents of the Iris B. Vest Widows Ministry Center partner with Church of God Chaplaincy to see that our servicemen receive a Christmas card this year.
According to Widows Center Residential Director Coleman Peacock, the widows have, “taken it upon themselves to individually hand make 2,000 Christmas cards to let our troops know that they are remembered during this special time of the year. Each card is a work of love with a prayer cloth neatly tucked inside. Each prayer cloth has been anointed and prayed over for the protection and safety of our troops.”

Widows Center director Coleman Peacock (in yellow) prays with the widows as they bless the cards and prayer cloths.
Peacock went on to say that the ladies have worked steadily for several weeks to finish their goal of 2,000 cards. The cards are now boxed and will be delivered to the chaplaincy office in Cleveland, Tennessee where they will be shipped to specified chaplains in the various branches of the armed forces. The chaplains will then hand deliver the beautiful cards to our military servicemen.
“This project was birthed by our widows,” Peacock stated, “to let our soldiers know that we care about them!”
An excerpt from the Widows Ministry Web site (www.widowscenter.org) states, “The Widows Center is not funded from any source, is a part of no one’s budget and receives neither state nor federal funds whatsoever. It is an independent, private, residential facility operating under the auspices of the Church of God and is dependent upon free-will offerings and gifts-in-kind for its total support.”
