Children’s Ministry Conference Adds New Tracks
The annual FOCUS Conference, the Church of God Children’s Ministry Conference, will be held on March 5-7, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Greenville, South Carolina.
This conference, initiated by Church of God children’s pastors in 1994, has continued to provide top notch training for those who work with children in the local church. FOCUS ’09 will feature children’s ministry specialists, including Phil Vischer, the creator of VeggieTales, and Reggie Joiner, founder of the Re-Think Group and co-founder of North Point Church in Atlanta, GA. John and Joscelyn Brockman, along with Josiah Generation, will lead in worship.
New this year will be a Master Teacher Training Certification Track. Leading this track of workshops will be internationally recognized speaker and children’s ministry consultant, Aaron Reynolds, who has served on staff at Willow Creek Community Church. Also new this year will be a track of workshops for those who work with middle school/junior high age youth. In partnership with the Hispanic Youth and Children’s Leaders Association, a Spanish language track of workshops will also be available.
Tony Lane, Discipleship and Children’s Ministry Coordinator says, “This conference is planned by children’s pastors for children’s ministry leaders. I guarantee that it will exceed the expectations of those in attendance! The track record of FOCUS is proven indeed!”
In addition to the exciting general sessions, fine meals, and great accommodations at the Hyatt Hotel in downtown Greenville, there will be numerous exhibitors with the latest and greatest children’s ministry resources! Children’s ministry leaders, Sunday school teachers, kids clubs workers, junior high/middle school leaders, and children’s music leaders will want to mark their calendar so as not to miss this awesome weekend of encouragement, learning, networking, and inspiration! The conference is coordinated under the direction of the Church of God International Department of Youth and Christian Education. For more information, call 423-478-7229 or visit ycechurchofgod.org.
