Relief Work Continues in Haiti
While it may seem that the earthquake in Haiti 18 months ago might take a back seat to the tornadoes, earthquakes and tsunamis since then, but Jim and Gina Hudson, construction missionaries to Haiti, report that Church of God congregations are continuing to offer supplies and labor. The following is a report from the Hudsons on the progress in Haiti:
Gina and I have been busy the past few months getting ready for short-term teams to visit in June. Two teams coming are back-to-back. These teams consist of approximately 15-18 team members. We are looking for a productive month and getting much done here in Haiti.
We recently had a team from Beckley, W.V., and they helped us on the compound, building and delivering new pews to the church and sorting through clothes, shoes, and food to take to the orphanage in Dufailly.
Compound Distribution
We received and distributed clothes, shoes, and supplies to the remaining people living in the tents on the compound. Please pray for them. We are now in the rainy season, and it has rained continually for the past week.
Medical Clinic
We continue to build the security wall around the compound of the Medical Clinic. We laid out the section where the new widows’ homes will be built, and we are waiting on the final cost to build.
Orphanage
We are still in the process of building the security wall around the compound of the orphanage, and we took food and supplies and distributed them to the children.
Roche Blanche Church
We dedicated the Roche Blanche church the end of April. The church did not have pews; they were damaged during the earthquake. So we took them tables and chairs to help.
Turbe’ Church
We were blessed to attend and take part in the Missions Conference in Toronto, Canada. While there, one church decided to sponsor Turbe’. We are in the building process. The foundation has been dug, and re-bar columns have been delivered for the Haitian crew to begin setting them and construct the foundation.
As you can see, we are working on numerous projects, but we are far from finished. We covet your prayers and continual support for the work ahead.
