New Church of God Online Video Center Launched
Church of God Communications announces an online video and media site which will specialize in Church of God events and resources for viewing and download. A link to the site is located on the Church of God home page (left hand corner) and will be an evolving resource of accessible videos.
The site is in partnership with vimeo.com, an online service which specializes in organizations and individuals being able to post video material easily and with minimal cost to the provider.
“Vimeo has been around for some time, and is a reputable source for this kind of service,” stated Cameron Fisher, coordinator of communications and internet ministries for the Church of God. “It is a popular site for creative content producers worldwide and is a public venue. To build the kind of site Vimeo offers would be costly to do, not to mention ongoing maintenance and monitoring. By partnering with Vimeo, we (Church of God) can provide virtually unlimited access to as many videos as we can post. Content can be easily shared and downloaded for use in local churches. It is convenient and a step forward in fulfilling requests for video content which we receive on a regular basis.”
Videos are organized into channels, including Leadership, Conferences and Events, and channels for Church of God ministries such as USA Missions, World Missions and Youth and Discipleship. Videos may be older content, but still relevant, such as a video from Youth and Discipleship Director Tom Madden announcing the changes to Teen Talent announced last year.
“We have the ability to pull out some archival material and post it on this site,” Fisher continued. “If it’s available and in a usable format, we can place it on the site. This is something we have been limited to do on a regular basis in the past.”
Of the videos currently posted one is of the celebration service of the home going of former General Overseer Dr. Ray H. Hughes who passed away on April 4, 2011. Many requests have been received for this and now anyone who could not attend may log on and view the service. Another video is of Pastor Larry Stockstill who spoke at the Strategic Missional Leadership Conference earlier this month. General Overseer Raymond Culpepper announced during the conference that the message would be available for viewing.
Fisher noted there are currently 11 videos on the site with more to be added in the future.
