Ramirez, Alvarez Attend Theological Conference

The ‘Now and Next’ theological conference on children was an historic event bringing together over one hundred readers from across the globe who set out to deepen theological understanding of God, by focusing on children as songs of the Kingdom.

Hosted by Daystar University and Compassion Kenya, the conference included Christians from churches and seminaries from all over the world, as well as representatives from the child advocacy sector. The Church of God was represented by; Dr. David E. Ramirez, Field Director to Latin America, and Dr. Miguel Alvarez, President of the South American Seminary (SEMISUD) among others.

Following on various past summits on child ministry, it was an opportunity for readers of theological institutions, church organizations, denominations, and Christian movements to meet, worship, learn together and seek God´s will, with particular referent to children.

The various engagements explored different facets of child theology with critical questions raised, challenges unearthed, and solutions identified, which create a platform for the reflective agenda on child ministries.

With a common resolve, participants at the conference pledged to humility in our practice and presence with children as servants of Christ. They pledge to earnestly listen to and learn from children, and address such issues as:

The role and place of the child in ministry and mission
The role of child theology in our seminaries, churches and Christian Organizations
Training of ministers in child theology and related disciplines

With a commitment to engage more deeply and widely in this dialogue, they resolved to seek God´s wisdom and divine intervention to give children their proper place in their ministries.
