Church of God Spared in Recent New Zealand Quake

The church in Christchurch, New Zealand, was spared in the recent earthquake, and all church members are well. The church building is in Riccarton, outside the main city of Christchurch, and there were no injuries or fatalities among the church members.

The church’s ministry at the Christchurch City Square, where they feed the homeless and hold Open-Air Crusades, has been taking place for 10 years. Three months ago they were told by the City Council they must discontinue the crusades, but they could continue to feed the homeless. Pastor Lorima appealed, but the City Council indicated that the Cathedral at the Square had complained that their services were discouraging visits by tourists. The Cathedral was a tourist site and earned money for their building. Unfortunately, the Cathedral was one of the first buildings to fall during the earthquake.

The church is helping with the homeless and earthquake victims, where they can. Please continue to pray for this ministry.
