Camp Meeting Schedule Released

The 2011 state and regional camp meeting schedule has been released which tells dates, locations, and special speakers for this most important annual event in the Church of God.

Although they have undergone changes and modifications in the last several years, annual summer camp meetings remain a stable and anticipated event, particularly for states and regions of the United States and Canada.

Camp meeting has its roots back several generations where many families would plan their summer vacations to be able to attend camp meeting, which was most of time held under a tent with sawdust floors, wood benches, and no air conditioning. Delegates and their families would camp out on a campground and cook meals on site in between services which many times ran three times a day for up to two weeks. Though camp meeting has been “modernized” through the years, many of the same traditions remain.

A list of camp meeting locations is located on the Church of God Web site, www.churchofgod.org. Listed are the dates, locations, and special speakers including morning Bible teachers and evening evangelists. Due to multiple guest speakers, several states have listed “TBA” or “various.” To learn more about the individual speakers on a given night, please visit the state or regional Web site. Web site listings are also located at the Church of God Web site under the Directories tab.
