Alabama Governor Desires to be Servant Leader Like Jesus

MONTGOMERY, AL – Robert Bentley has begun his term as Alabama’s governor with a pledge to be a servant leader like Jesus.

In his inaugural address Monday, Bentley said, “Jesus showed his disciples by example that in order to be a great leader, you must first be a servant.”

Quoting the Bible’s Book of Esther, Bentley asked, “How do we know that we have not been placed here today for such a time as this?”

Bentley took his oath of office on the Alabama State Bible.

The state Department of Archives and History says the Bible was purchased by the state in 1853 and has been used for every governor’s oath of office since then.
