Empowered 21 Global Council Convenes in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, Calif–The Empowered21 Global Council, an esteemed group of International Christian leaders, co-chaired by Jack Hayford and Billy Wilson, convened in Los Angeles for a two-day meeting on January 11-12, 2011 to discuss and give oversight to a series of 11 regional Empowered21 leadership teams that are forming to focus on crucial issues faced by Spirit-empowered churches operating around the world.
The council is adopting vision and purpose statements for the entire Empowered21 effort. The focus of Empowered21 remains finding ways to help every generation be empowered by the Holy Spirit for effective Christian living.
Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, President of The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference and Empowered21 Global Council attendee, said, “Human history stands embedded with social, economic, and political movements. The 21st century world will witness a fresh movement with far greater outcomes. This is a fresh movement of God’s Holy Spirit. Movements liberate and empower. Via Empowered21 the world will experience a movement that will usher in Holiness, spiritual freedom and demonstrate the power of Christ.”
In many cases, Empowered21 meetings mark the first time leaders of the Spirit-filled movement in a given region have ever connected at this level. New, groundbreaking networks are forming in Africa, Asia, Australia, Canada, Latin America, the Middle East, United States and beyond. Additionally, an Empowered21 Youth Ministries Network is coming together as the first-ever international network for Spirit-filled youth leaders.
“These are very exciting times as leaders focus on the future of the Spirit-filled movement. The potential to see an earth shaking renewal that will draw new generations into the greatest harvest in human history is before us,” said Billy Wilson, Executive Director of International Center For Spiritual Renewal and Co-Chair, Empowered21 Global Council.
During 2009 and early 2010, Empowered21 held 17 unique conversation events around the world with leaders, scholars and new generation voices to ascertain their insights into the issues facing the movement in the 21st Century. Over 500 people from 54 nations and over 15 different universities were involved in the conversations. These conversations culminated in the Empowered21 Global Congress on Holy Spirit Empowerment that was held in Tulsa, OK April 8-11, 2010.
Over 10,000 people from 95 nations attended the April Congress where over 210 learning conversations and numerous general session events informed and connected them. It became obvious that the Congress was forming a launch base for further exploration.
What has followed is notable. Empowered21 is now witnessing a convergence and collaboration of Spirit-empowered ministries around the world. Regional cabinets will be pursuing initiatives and events in their area of the world to address the future of Spirit-empowered Christianity and find ways to connect the generations for spiritual impartation. Each regional cabinet will operate under the same vision and purposes being formed by the Empowered21 Global Council.
