Ghana School Holds First Graduation/Matriculation

A Church of God school in Ghana, the Pan African Christian University College, held its first Congregation/Graduation and Matriculation ceremony on Saturday, October 30, 2010, on the college’s campus. Two hundred and seventy-nine students matriculated in various disciplines for the years 2009/2010 and 2010/2011: In the School of Theology; Diplomas in Biblical Studies were 20 students, Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies were 28 students, and in the School of Business: Bachelor in Business Administration with options in Accounting, Marketing, Banking and Finance, Human Resource, and Management were 231 students.

The School of Theology graduated a total of 95 students with the awards of Bachelor of Arts degrees in Biblical Studies and Diplomas in Biblical Studies. Fifty-four of them received Bachelor degrees while 41 of the ministers received Diplomas. Thirty-eight of the 54 ministers who received Bachelor degrees are Church of God ministers with 21 of the 41 Diploma graduates being pastors of the Church of God from Burkina Faso, Chad, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Guinea-Conakry, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Nigeria, and Togo.

The well-attended program included dignitaries of the Church of God: Dr Victor Pagan, assistant director of World Missions, was the keynote speaker; Rev. Peter Thomas, field director of Africa; and Rev. Jurgen Rudolph, Christian education coordinator for Africa.

The occasion was made possible after PACUC sought affiliation with National Institutions (University of Cape Coast and the Trinity Theological Seminary) that better understand the contextual challenges and provide the needed supervision especially on national educational matters. The original intention for international affiliation with Lee University in the United States of America encountered some hurdles.

Finally, I would like to thank the college staff through the president, the School Board and all those who were involved in making this occasion a reality. Please keep up with the good work God will reward your efforts in due time.

Ephraim Shawa, Superintendent – West Africa
