Drivers Into NY Face Christmas Billboard Feud
NEW YORK – Motorists entering New York City via the Lincoln Tunnel are getting caught up in the modern war over Christmas.
On the way in from New Jersey, they’re confronted by a billboard set up by American Atheists that says, “You know it’s a myth. This season, celebrate reason!”
The Catholic League countered with its own billboard on the New York side bearing the message, “You know it’s real. This season, celebrate Jesus.”
The Catholic League’s Jeff Field quips that “there’s light at the end of the tunnel.”
American Atheists president David Silverman responds that the Catholics stole the billboard idea the same way early Christians stole the winter solstice and made it Christmas.
