Great Commission Conference Scheduled for January 2011

Plans are underway for a Great Commission Church Planting Mandate conference to be held January 13-14, 2011 in partnership with the Billion Soul Network. The event will be held at the North Cleveland Church of God in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Some of the most prolific church planters from around the world will participate, hailing from countries such as Fiji and the Philippines. They will be joined by Church of God leaders and Dr. James O. Davis, co-founder of the Billion Soul Network. The conference will be hosted by Church of God General Overseer Dr. Raymond Culpepper, First Assistant General Overseer Dr. Tim Hill, and Dr. Michael Knight, church planter and trainer and pastor of Covenant Community Church in Lexington, Kentucky.

Keynote speakers and presenters will include Culpepper, Hill, Knight and Davis, as well as Rev. Doug Small, president and founder of Alive Ministries: Project Pray. Another presenter will be Rev. Suliasi Kurulo, founding pastor of World Harvest Center in Suva, Fiji, who has planted nearly 2,000 churches in more than 100 nations. A final keynote presenter will be Dr. David Sobrepena, founding pastor of Word of Hope and former general superintendent of the Assemblies of God in Manila, Philippines. Sobrepena, who pastors more than 30,000 worshippers, has equipped more than 330,000 leaders, and planted more than 2,000 churches worldwide.

The conference will be conducted alongside a state/district overseers leadership meeting which begins Thursday morning, January 13. The opening session of the church planting conference will be held Thursday afternoon and conducted by James O. Davis.

Some of the topics to be addressed will include, The Great Commission Challenge, Maximizing Church Planters, The American Church in Crisis, and separate sessions each on Mobilizing, Modeling and Multiplying Church Planters.
“I am truly convinced that God is calling His people to be a missionary people and His church a missionary church,” Culpepper stated. “We will hear from the finest church planters in the global church today. It is a meeting you will not want to miss.”
