World Missions Events at General Assembly

The 72nd Church of God International General Assembly will convene August 4-9, 2008, in San Antonio, Texas. World Missions delegates will gather the evening of August 2 for the start of the pre-assembly conference for missionaries. The theme for the evening is “Running the Race…Together” with guest speaker Reverend James O. Davis from Florida.

The conference will continue on Sunday morning with two sessions led by Reverend Douglas LeRoy, assistant director, speaking on “Sprinting to the Finish…Together” and Reverend Roland Vaughan, director, who will talk about “The Finish Line in Sight.” A banquet will be held for special guests Sunday evening with Reverend Davis as the speaker.

The much anticipated World Missions service will take place Thursday evening on August 7 at the Alamodome. “Walking in the Spirit…Together” is the central theme for that evening. Highlights include a parade of nations—where delegates will enter the dome dressed in traditional outfits carrying their flags—music by the Mutyebele Family from Belgium and special videos featuring Cambodia and Turkey.

The speaker for the evening will be Angel Marcial. Marcial, a native and former overseer of Puerto Rico is now the overseer of the Southeast Hispanic Region in the United States.
