On Friday morning, July 11, it was announced that National Evangelist Bishop Billy J. O’Neal passed away the previous evening. Arrangements for Bishop O’Neal have now been completed and are as follows:

Viewing will be held Tuesday, July 15, from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Sale Creek Church of God, 14919 Old Dayton Pike (Highway 27) Sale Creek, Tenn. The funeral service will be Wednesday, 2 p.m. at the Sale Creek Church of God. Internment will immediately follow at the Varner Cemetery in Soddy Daisy, Tenn.

Rev. Billy O’Neal, 65, was a graduate of Lee University and was first licensed in the Church of God in 1964. His ministry with the Church of God included pastorates in Union Grove and Racine, Wisconsin and Jackson, Mississippi. Brother O’Neal’s early ministry included 20 years of leadership (1966-1986) where he served for various lengths of terms as youth and Christian education director in the following states/regions: Wisconsin, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Georgia and Tennessee.

From 1986-91 he was regional overseer for the states of Colorado and Utah and then Delmarva-DC from 1991-94. He also served on various general leadership positions, including the Benevolence Board of Directors, East Coast and Northwest Bible College Board of Directors, Church Music Committee and Mission Overseer Advisory Board. He was also a frequent camp meeting and youth camp speaker and had received numerous awards and recognitions, such as Outstanding Young Men of America, National YWEA Award, Youth Director Citation of Achievement Award and Who’s Who in American Christian Leadership.

Rev. Billy O’Neal is survived by his wife of 45 years, Brenda, and their two grown children, Alisa and B.J.
