State, Regional Youth Directors Announced
The list of 2010-2012 directors of youth and discipleship for states and regions of the Church of God has been released by the youth and discipleship office of the International Offices.
Directors of youth and discipleship are part of the leadership teams of state and regional offices across the United States and Canada. To reflect the international offices, the title has been changed from director of youth and Christian education to youth and discipleship.
Unlike the administrative bishop role which is appointed by the international executive committee, appointments of Y&D directors takes place more at the state level, many times with input from an elected youth board and the administrative bishop. Y&D directors are also subject to term limitations.
While many of the Y&D appointments were made prior to the Church of God General Assembly last July, several others took place in the weeks and months following the Assembly. Some state/region Y&D posts remain unfilled.
“This slate of state and regional leaders in youth and discipleship is exceptional,” stated Thomas Madden, international director of youth and discipleship for the Church of God. “I have confidence in each of them to lead this generation of youth which is not the church of tomorrow, but is the church of today.”
