Church of God In Sudan Seeks Two Kinds of Water
Sudan, a desperate mission field itself, is sending missionaries into its own unreached people group area, namely the Mundiri in Terekeka. I was overwhelmed when I learned that Pastor Eli Awile—a man in his late 60s who co-founded the Church of God in Sudan—and Jacob, a school teacher, were sent to this unreached area.
The biggest need is for people to find the Living Water of Salvation, Jesus Christ. Another need is physical water. We were shown a bottle of dirty water and told that this is their cleanest water and only offered for visitors.
I recently received a letter from our representative, John Noah Komi. He writes:
“Pastor Eli Awile…reported that the work of God in Terekeka is progressing despite some of the problems facing them. The Lord is adding a good number of new believers into the church. The number of the school children has reached 200 pupils. The greatest problem facing the Mundiri people is the lack of water—until now there has been no rain. The sad news is that eight children died at Nantibi Village, 20 miles from where Pastor Eli lives, due to lack of water.”
In May they started a church and school, and already have 200 students! What an impact!
