Global Day of Prayer for the Poor on 10.10.10
The Church of God as a denomination, along with other Pentecostal churches, is participating in this effort.

As the recently appointed liaison from World Missions to Micah Challenge International, I have the distinct privilege of inviting the entire World Missions family to participate in the global day of prayer and action on behalf of the poor on October 10, 2010 (10.10.10).
On Sunday, October 10, 2010, we want to join with 100 million other Christians around the world in praying and advocating for the poor by holding our government leaders accountable for the promises they made in 2000 to reduce extreme poverty by 50% by the year 2015.
Please join with us by calling upon your leaders, pastors, educators, and students to a special prayer time on that day.
You may also find many other resources in various languages at Micah Challenge , including a specific prayer that may be downloaded and prayed in unison with millions of Christians around the world on 10.10.10.
We already have heard from Church of God leaders in Brazil, Colombia, Fiji, Macedonia, Peru, and the US who have committed to prayer and action on behalf of the poor on that day. I am looking forward to hearing from many more of you who will be part of this great day of prayer, so that many will be released from extreme poverty and injustice.
Let us always remember and act upon the mission statement of Jesus Christ, when He proclaimed: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to free the oppressed, and to announce the year of God’s favor,” Luke 4:18-19.
