People for Care and Learning Featured on CBS.com

People for Care and Learning (PCL), an independent, nonprofit humanitarian organization which partners with the Church of God, is being featured on the CBS Web show, “Around the World for Free.” Host Jeff Schroeder, known for his casting on the reality shows Big Brother and the Amazing Race visited PCL’s Cambodia headquarters in Siem Reap where he assisted the organization with several projects. The show will air online this week at www.cbs.com/world.

The Premise of the CBS show is simple: Jeff Schroeder travels around the world for 100 days without any money. Viewers of the show get to determine where he travels, how he gets there and where he should stay. He depends on the kindness of strangers to take care of him wherever he goes. When the show arrived in Siem Reap, PCL’s director, Dr.Fred Garmon met them at the bus station and was happy to host the group for two days at the Common Grounds coffee shop and cybercafe.

On Wednesday, August 25, with crews filming, Jeff helped to hand out 200 water filters to families in desperate need of clean water on the Tonle Sap Lake and in a remote Khmer village. Each $10 filter provides a family with safe water for an entire year. This International exposure will help raise awareness of the millions of people who lack access to clean, drinkable water and the ongoing mission of PCL.

People for Care and Learning (PCL) is a Cleveland, Tennessee-based international organization dedicated to benevolently serving both the local community and communities around the world. They help children, widows and communities build bridges out of poverty in order to reach their full potential.

There are numerous ways to be involved in the humanitarian efforts in Cambodia including supporting a child in PCL’s orphanages, buying a $10 water filter to provide a family clean water for a year and even traveling to Cambodia to meet the people for themselves.
