Mention of ‘God’ Hurts Business

The owner of a children’s play space in Maryland is having to defend herself after administrators at a nearby school cancelled planned field trips.

Gina Seebachan recently opened the “Be With Me Playseum” as a business that caters to children and provides a location where they can take part in a variety of activities, many with a biblical theme. Seebachan claims as she and staff members were preparing for planned field trips from local kindergarten classes, school officials cancelled the trip, because she mentions God on the Playseum’s website.

During an interview on the Fox News Channel, Seebahcan defended her position and denied trying to convert any of her customers.

“That has never happened; come in for yourself,” she said. “First of all, we’re a playseum, which is a children’s used book store. We’re designed like a little city, with a grocery store, a beauty salon, a live pet shop, an arts studio, a little bakery — and we have never pushed any kind of religion on anyone. In fact, we celebrate all multicultural, ethnic backgrounds.”

Seebachan says the controversy has hurt business.
