Rebuilding Haiti
A team from Georgia recently visited us in Haiti to help remodel the missionary house that will accommodate teams of workers through the next few years. They did wood work where termites had done some damage, as well as electric, plumbing, cleaning and organizing the shops.
We have contracted a local crew to build a foundation and to fix the plumbing to get ready for the metal building that will serve as a bath house for the teams. It will consist of four showers and four restrooms. We will have to set up a water tank on top of the tool garage.
We plan to take a portion of the wood shop to put up a kitchen to cook the meals. I have a local Haitian lady who lives on the compound with her husband and three children. Their house is one of those that was destroyed during the earthquake.
I recently got a Toyota truck to be able to get around. However, it has been very difficult to get gas.
We are looking to host teams of no more than six men due to space, but once the missionary house is complete we will be able to hold 15-18 team members. If you are interested in coming to Haiti to help in the rebuilding, contact Men and Women of Action.
