When We Build Upon the Rock
Saturday, January 9, in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, an amazing meeting took place. A meeting that many will remember as a new beginning for the Kingdom work here in Bulgaria. With the beginning of the calendar year a meeting of the Church of God ministers (Western Region) was organized for the purpose of a carefully planned and organized life of the ministry work. Most of the ministers confessed that this was the first time they ever participated in an administrative meeting of this kind – where the church leadership in perfect love and sync worked in unity.
European Ministers
There were several fundamental points in the agenda in the hands of the leaders and regardless of the uncertainty and fear at the start – one after another began to open up and take active participation in the process. The beginning of the meeting was marked by the passionate appeal of Brother Velev – national overseer – who preached from Matt. 8:51. Then the meeting continued into its decision-making phase, and due to decades of hurting past experiences, you could read the uncertainty on the faces of the church leaders.
The first task was to take a vote for Bishop of the Western Region for the period 2010-2012 and we all anonymously elected Rev. Marin Radev – the pastor of the Revival Church of God in Zlatitsa. After this we felt the Spirit of God unwrap a wonderful refreshing spirit of freedom and trust, and one by one the following votes were taken in building the regional administrative structure. The Region was divided into 5 districts for easy spiritual and administrative care and the following district overseers were elected as follows:
1. Stanislav Todorov – The Poduene District
2. Dimitar Ianev – The Liulin District
3. Kamen Petrov – The Berkovitsa District
4. Georgi Georgiev – The Zlatitsa District
5. Atanas Georgiev – The Blagoevgrad District
Additionally a committee was elected to oversee the building projects and the various financial needs. Anthon Chinkov, the national youth director, presented the ministers with a general plan for an organized national youth program which will aim at combining the youth in ministering together.
An important emphasis was placed upon getting every minister to obtain the needed education, and to pass the international licensing procedure in joining the international network of Church of God licensed ministers. The meeting ended with the creation of a three-month calendar of upcoming events.
This is what the church is capable of – when all is built upon Jesus as the foundation of our personal and ministerial relationships. No other foundation can ensure the unity and the seamless cooperation between the stewards of His Kingdom. To the King be all the glory.
