Care Conference Slated for Indonesia

An international Conference on Care sponsored by the Church of God Division of Care and Benevolence will be held this month in Indonesia.

The Global Conference on Care 2010 is slated to take place on March 15-17, 2010 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Leaders from around the world who have a burden for benevolence programs will be in attendance.

A three-fold vision statement for the conference is “Becoming, Reaching and Providing.” Tenets of the vision include to become global agents of change in “Creative Care;” to reach “society’s most vulnerable victims” who need compassionate care; to “provide methods of ministry” that will facilitate “patterns of progress;” and for those who need to escape the oppressions of poverty, sickness and social despair. The mission of the conference is “to challenge people who have the capacity to care to release their hearts and gifts to people around the world who have been impacted by centuries of diverse global peril.”

According to the web site for the event, there are several “target groups” who are encouraged to attend the Global Conference on Care. They include local pastors and members already involved in Benevolent Care, humanitarian agencies, and individuals, church leaders, congregations, and Christian business persons interested, but not yet involved in charitable or benevolent activities at the business, organization or local church level.

Primary sponsors of the conference are Yayasan Kasih Peduli Masyarakat Indonesia (YKPMI), Gereja Bethel Indonesia, the Lazarus Foundation and the Church of God Division of Care and Benevolence.

The two-day conference will be held at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC) in Jakarta. It will be filled with 20 clinics dealing with a multitude of topics. Some of the titles include Casting a Vision for Benevolence and Care in Your City, Multi-Media Ministries in Benevolence and Care, A Biblical Model for Modern Day Care Givers, Creating A Disaster Response Team, Connecting the Great Commandment to the Great Commission, and Facilitating Benevolence and Care in Times of Global Disaster. Additional clinics will cater to the Indonesian delegation which is expected to be over 2,000 of the 5,000 delegates slated to attend.

A complete list of clinics, as well as registration information, and accommodations is available at www.indocareconference2010.com.
