Sharing Hot Chocolate
A missionary couple has discovered a non-traditional inroad for effective evangelism.
For the past three years, we have been helping Pastors Hernan and Mabel Isla provide a traditional Chocolatada (hot chocolate) to the community of Las Lomas de Canto Bellos, here in Lima, Peru. When we first started, Pastor Hernan and his wife were ministering to 30 children each Saturday with basic Bible truths.
This ministry has grown to over 100 children. Hernan and Mabel no longer minister every Saturday there, but have trained up young leaders who are continuing to minister in this area each week.
We provided gifts for 100 children as well as the hot chocolate for them and their parents. Pastor Hernan and his family have been working with a church in San Juan de Lurigancho “El Buen Samartanio” for two years now. When they began to minister in this church there was a membership of 20 people. The church regularly ministers to over 75 people of which 30 are children. They have moved from a single meeting room to a building with a large meeting room and two children’s rooms. This year we gave gifts to 30 children and hot chocolate to them and their parents.
