Kathy White Passes Away

Kathryn Shires White, former first lady of the Church of God, passed away January 27, 2010.

Sister White served as International Women’s Ministries president for the Church of God when her husband, Dr. Robert White, was general overseer of the Church of God from 1994-96. She was also a former member of the Women’s Ministries Advisory Council.

The daughter of a pastor, Sister White worked alongside her husband all during his ministry and was a leader in women’s ministries wherever their ministry took them which included the states of Montana, Wyoming, Arizona, West Virginia, Alabama. During the years of 1976-80, Sister White travelled extensively when her husband was Director of world Missions for the denomination. She was an effective fund-raiser for global projects relating to Christian ministries and has been a featured speaker at women’s convocations on many occasions.

Educated at Lee University and Rocky Mountain College, Sister White earned a bachelors degree in education. She is the mother of Dr. Vardaman White and Dr. Alisa White Coleman.

“It was a genuine joy to work with Kathy in the Department of Women’s Ministries,” stated Rebecca Jenkins, former director of Women’s Ministries for the Church of God. “Kathy was an outstanding International president of Women’s Ministries and always a prime example of a Christian lady and a true friend. She was very supportive of the ministry and of my work and had a heart for women around the world.”

Funeral arrangements for Kathy White are as follows: visitation, Friday, January 29, 2010 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the Life Fellowship Church, 760 W. Hurst Blvd., in Hurst, Texas. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., also at Life Fellowship Church.
