Social Network For Planet-Wide Prayer
Christians are being asked to take the Prayer Planet challenge.
The call is being made through a website called PrayerPlanet.net, which was co-founded by Dr. Cornell Haan, who helped start the presidential prayer team. He says the idea for the website came from a meeting with a U.S. senator.
“I had lunch one day with an Arizona senator,” Haan recalls, “and at that time he said it’s great you’re praying for the president, but why aren’t you praying for me?”
That question spurred Hann to come up with an answer. “So I sought to find a way how we could pray for about 700 elected officials in our country,” he explains, “and the Lord gave the whole concept to me that we could do that if we had a social network…and Prayer Planet is the only social network in the world that’s dedicated to prayer.”
Now, Dr. Haan is challenging Christians to take action. “It is our heart to challenge people to give one day [to prayer], to go to the website and then join,” he shares, “and go to a section called America’s Prayer Team and start praying for our nation. It is my belief that our nation is in great trouble.”
The site offers multiple prayer options, such as praying for schools and churches, the war in Afghanistan, the economy, healthcare reform, and other topics.
