Cossey Appears on AG Program

Church of God Editor-in-Chief Dr. James Cossey recently appeared on the Assemblies of God Web site program, Pentecostal Evangel Connections.

Cossey, who also serves as editor of the Church of God Evangel, was the special guest of Rev. Ken Horn, editor of the Pentecostal Evangel, the counterpart to the Church of God’s Evangel. Cossey and Horn are members of the International Pentecostal Press Association (IPPA) together.

Cossey shared with the internet audience a brief history of the Church of God, and his personal history as his ministry intersected with the Assembly of God through his mother who was a minister in the AG. Cossey was saved in an Arkansas Church of God as a teenager, was called to the ministry at 16 and pastored his first church at 18. Cossey has also served in leadership positions in the Church of God including state overseer and editor of missions publications.

Cossey was asked about the history of the Evangel, which is four years older than the AG Pentecostal Evangel. He announced that in March of 2010, the Evangel will celebrate 100 years of publication with a special centennial edition. The issue will follow just two months after an issue commemorating 100 years of missionaries in the Church of God.

Horn and Cossey discussed the changing relationships of denominations, the growing cooperation among them and the recognition that all are a part of the family of God.

“The Assemblies of God have had a rich relationship with the Church of God,” Horn stated. Cossey continued the conversation by stating that, “It will not be Assemblies of God, Church of God or Church of God of Prophecy that enters the Kingdom of God, but all those who are the children of God.”

Cossey’s interview with Horn can be viewed on the Assembly of God Web site at www.agtv.ag.org and clicking on channels, Pentecostal Evangel and PE Connections.
