Church of God Hosts Missions Summit

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — The two-day meeting is a critical part of the Second Billion strategy aimed to inspire the establishment of 5 million new churches and win 1 billion souls to Christ. At present, the world population includes a little more than 1 billion Christians.

A key group of church and missions leaders from around the world are gathering at the Church of God International Offices in Cleveland October 27 and 28 for “The Finish Line Summit,” discussing strategies for completing the Great Commission mandate to take the gospel to the ends of the earth.

Every major world region will be represented among the several dozen high-level participants in the meeting.

Dr. James O. Davis, head of the Second Billion initiative, will convene the meeting. Among the attendees are leaders of Southern Baptist, Assemblies of God, Elim Churches, Nigerian Baptist Convention, Nazarene Church, and many others.

Presenters will include Philip Jenkins, author of The Coming of Global Christianity, and Douglas LeRoy, general director of Church of God World Missions.

The focus of the Cleveland “Finish Line” summit is the unreached people groups of earth, those populations within nations who do not have an adequate Christian population to evangelize their own people.
