Witnessing Through Hygiene

Sierra Leone–Church of God missionaries William and Karen Sivels recently installed the first flush toilet in a 30-mile radius. It was installed for the Church of God primary/junior high school. “As missionaries we are really trying to raise up the standards in our school/village setting,” says the Sivelses.

One woman has been hired by the school to teach each student how to use the flush toilet system and how to practice good hygiene.

Nearly 1.1 billion people are without access to clean water—that’s more than the combined population of North America and the European Union. Without access to clean drinking water, children are at a much higher risk for life-threatening diseases.
