September 14, 2009–Thousands of delegates are headed to Mount Paran Church of God in Atlanta, Georgia today where they will participate in the Symposium on the Great Commission on September 14-15. The same event will be repeated on the west coast as the Symposium moves to the Riverside, California Convention Center September 17 and 18.
For those unable to attend, all sessions – both east and west – will be streamed on the Church of God Web site. Times for the Atlanta symposium are Eastern Standard Time (EST), while those in California are Pacific Standard Time (PST).
Leading off the Symposium in Atlanta on Monday night will be an address by Church of God General Overseer Raymond Culpepper. The service begins at 7:00 p.m. On Tuesday, Indonesian pastor Niko Njotorahardjo, pastor of the largest Church of God congregation in the world, will lead a morning session beginning at 9:30 a.m. A general session will take place in the afternoon starting at 2:00 p.m. Speaking at this time will be Ana Diaz, Church of God pastor in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, where her thriving church runs more than 6,000 people. The closing service of Symposium East will be led by Loran Livingston, pastor of the Charlotte (North Carolina) Central Church of God.
The schedule for Symposium West begins on September 17 and is identical to the East, however Diaz and Livingston will trade places on the schedule. Livingston will speak on Friday afternoon, while Diaz will close the symposium on Friday night.
On-site registration for both east and west is available for those who wish to attend the event(s) in person. Complete information on the Symposium, including speaker bios, registration details, accommodations and available resources can be found on www.churchofgod.org and clicking on the Symposium graphic.
In conjunction with the start of the Symposium, a two-week shutdown of the Web site www.forwardtogetherinchangingtimes.com ended today as the newly-revised site was launched. The site includes information, devotionals, a blog and resource materials on both prayer and the Great Commission, two of the three emphases of the 2008-2010 General Assembly period.
