N. Ga. Women’s Ministries Partner with Women of Faith

On August 27 more than 126 attendees shared a reception and a private evening of fellowship and faith at the Marriott Downtown Atlanta sponsored by the Church of God North Georgia State Women’s Ministries.

Special arrangements were made for pastor’s wives and minister’s wives to gather for such a unique weekend and it was an awesome experience. Special guests included Sandra Kay Williams, Dorothy Sibley, Jan Timmerman, Charla Madden and two former International Women’s Ministries Presidents, Carmelita Walker and Evelyn Knight.

Honoring the Church of God first night kick-off were three official representatives from Women of Faith; Avia Rice, Regional Manager of South Region; Hannah Gomez, Group Leaders Specialist ( both from Dallas, Texas) , and Leslie Johnson-Mosley, Atlanta event representative.

Women of Faith (birthed in 1996) is an organization sponsoring outstanding authors, speakers and musicians ministering in 28 such weekends each year across the country. A Women of Faith weekend is sponsored by the Thomas Nelson Publishing Company. This was a very rewarding experience for Church of God women to partner with the Women of Faith at this Atlanta conference.

Anna Trent, daughter of vocalist Sandi Patti, was emcee for the Friday Feature along with Steve Arterburn, founder of Women of Faith, and Marilyn Meberg. Throughout the weekend great speakers like Patsy Clairmont, Anita Renfroe, Luci Swindoll, Sheila Walsh, and Lisa Whelchel, filled the arena with wisdom, wit and the Word. Sandi Patti, Steven Curtis Chapman and Mandisa filled the arena with worshipful music.

Jackie Walker, N. GA. state director, was honored on stage by Mary Graham, President of Women of Faith, as having the largest group registered for this event. Aside from the pastors’ and ministers’ wives who attended as a group, a large number of N. Ga. local churches also had many ladies in attendance.

Walker observed how interesting it was that both the next two runner-up group leaders have Church of God and Assembly of God heritage. Also, that one of the key members of the W.O.F Praise and Worship Team, Corrie Henson, is a former youth choir director from the Mount Paran Central Church of God.
