Seminary Changes Name to Pentecostal Theological Seminary
The Church of God Theological Seminary recently changed the name of the institution to Pentecostal Theological Seminary, a Church of God Ministry. The move comes after much market research and approval by the Church of God International Executive Council.
PTS President Dr. Steve Land said, “This re-affirms our Wesleyan-Pentecostal theology and is a strategic broadening of our ability to serve across the entire span of the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement. The Seminary continues to enjoy international recognition as a benchmark Pentecostal school which demonstrates breadth of understanding, spiritual-academic excellence, and a passionate commitment to mission. We are still what we have been since 1975–Pentecostal to the core!”
The seminary will remain true to its identity as a Church of God institution, demonstrated by the newly-designed crest unveiled at the time of the announcements.
In keeping with this change, Bishop Randy Howard, General Overseer of the Church of God of Prophecy, has announced a formal affiliation with PTS as the graduate school of choice for the Church of God of Prophecy.
Pentecostal Theological Seminary was founded in 1974 by former general overseer of the Church of God, Wade H. Horton, who also served as its first president. It officially became an institution of higher learning in 1975 and had operated under the previous names of Church of God School of Theology and Church of God Theological Seminary.
Registration for the fall semester begins August 19. According to seminary officials, there has never been a better time to refresh and/or re-focus your ministry and generous scholarships are available for the fall semester and January J-Term.
