Traditional Marriage Still Popular in Pennsylvania

A recent poll shows most Pennsylvanians support traditional marriage. The numbers show residents favoring one man and one woman as the definition of marriage, and the figures are very high among older Pennsylvanians.
Diane Gramley, who heads American Family Association of Pennsylvania, is hopeful voters in her state get a chance to express their preference in a polling place.
“By and large, we here in Pennsylvania do support traditional marriage,” she believes. “We just need an opportunity to vote on a marriage protection amendment, which up to this point the legislative body has denied us….”
Pennsylvania has neighbors that have legalized or are leaning towards legalization of homosexual “marriage.” “We are concerned with our neighboring states New York and New Jersey, and of course what’s happening up in New England states,” Gramley points out. “But we right now are resisting the tide.”
Gramley says homosexual activist groups believe they will claim Pennsylvania. “It’s been predicted that by 2012, that Pennsylvania will pass [a] same-sex marriage [bill],” she contends. “Well, we’re going to put up every stumbling block we possibly can to see that that does not happen.”
Senator John Eichelberger (R-Pennsylvania) has introduced a proposed constitutional amendment that would bar legalization of anything other than traditional marriage.
