Church of God Army Chaplain Promoted to Major

The Church of God Chaplains Commission is delighted to announce the recent promotion of Army Chaplain Everett Franklin to the rank of Major.

Everett, his wife April and their daughter Lindsey are completing an assignment as the 1st Aviation Brigade Chaplain at Fort Rucker, AL. In addition to his duties with the over 4,000 soldiers of the Brigade Everett served as the Associate Pastor of the Contemporary Service and April and Lindsey coordinated and ran the Coffee House ministry for the Chapel. With two services and a weekly attendance of 400 to 500 this was a vibrant and dynamic ministry.

Everett and April are from Leesburg, FL and he has served as an active duty chaplain in the Army since February, 2001. He has deployed to Iraq from Fort Stewart, GA and Schofield Barracks, Hawaii with two of the units that he has supported.

We are also happy to announce that Chaplain Franklin will be assigned to Fort Hood, TX where he will participate in a fifteen month training program to become an Army Family Life Chaplain. As you know our military families are and have been under a tremendous amount of stress from the pace of deployments, weight of separation and harsh realities of combat. The Army is recognizing this and expanding the training and use of Family Life Chaplains.

Upon completion of his training Chaplain Franklin will be assigned to an Installation or Division to work with the Command Chaplain in meeting these needs. He will coordinate programs, train and equip other chaplains but most of all he will endeavor to bring the Light and Life of the Word of God to those in need.
