Crisis in Romania
How is the economic crisis affecting the people of Romania? Nearly every week I receive emails from the people that we work with, containing prayer requests. Many of the young ladies that were rescued out of the orphanages when they were younger are now working in the factories of Romania.
Because of the crisis, several have completely lost their jobs and others have had their work hours drastically reduced. In some cases, just like in the States, factories have completely closed down. I receive letters and emails asking us to help them pray that God will take care of them!
As they work in the factories, earning about $100 per month, any change in this pay has a devastating affect on their ability to survive. It takes all their pay and extra aid from American sponsors just to have a place to live and pay the utilities.
Usually there are anywhere from four to six girls living in one apartment. They must do this just to be able to afford a place to live. Most of the time they have cruel landlords who are very questionable in their character. This is the “way of life” in Romania.
All over Europe and especially in Romania, crime, unemployment, inflation, corruption, the human sex-slave trade and things of this nature are constantly on the rise. Please pray for our brothers and sisters in this area.
