New Opportunities Available at Seminary

Several opportunities available only during the January 2009 J-Term and spring semester have been announced by Church of God Theological President Dr. Steve Land.

Among the offerings are thirty, one half tuition grants to ministers. A new ministerial student or someone out of Seminary for one semester or more may apply. A limited number of $1,250.00 scholarships are available for persons specifically interested in or involved in Evangelism. Seniors at Lee University are eligible for a free class in spring, 2009 of which eight awards are available. According to school officials, other regular scholarships are available and all are on a “first-come” basis upon completing financial aid information.

According to Land, Lee University students may be eligible for “advanced standing with credit” at the Seminary. The total number of hours for a degree will be reduced by the approved number of hours per ATS standards for selected first year courses. This option must be requested through the Academics Office.

Along with these opportunities, Seminary officials announced new class offerings which may be attractive to students. Dr. Paul L. Walker, former Church of God general overseer and pastor of Mt. Paran church in Atlanta for 37 years, is teaching, Leadership: The Master’sModel of Administration, in a January 5-9, 2009 J-Term. A J-Term consists of an intense, week-long “semester,” where classes meet Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 5:00.

A second J-Term offering is a course by Dr. Bruce Phillipi, long-term pastor of Journey Life Center in Mansfield, Ohio, who will be teaching, Building the Ministry Team, January 19-23, 2009.

Anyone interested in these opportunities is encouraged to apply now before classes are full. For an application packet, email alombard@cogts.edu. For financial aid information, email Robin Sluder (rsluder@cogts.edu) or call toll-free at 800-228-9126.
