Parsley Visits Appalachian Dream Center

During the weekend of March 28 – 30, 2009, Rev. Rod Parsley and World Harvest Ministries made a visit to the Appalachian Dream Center, a ministry of Operation Compassion, for the express purpose of helping the impoverished region.

Troy Duggan, mission’s director for World Harvest Bible College and forty volunteer students arrived on Saturday and began to set up for Sunday services and a tremendous outreach on Monday.
In the Sunday morning service, Troy Duggan preached and ministered to the local congregation. During the Sunday evening service, Sister Parsley, Rod’s mother, ministered an inspiring message to the local church. These services were a precursor to the big event on Monday.

Rod Parsley arrived Monday morning and was ready to start the day with a message specifically for the community that arrived for the food distribution. More than 1,000 cars were lined in front of the ADC as two truckloads of food were being prepared for distribution. Families from all over the region came to hear Parsley and receive assistance with food supplies; 1,300 families received the help they needed.

In addition to the food distribution and special service, the forty volunteers from World Harvest Bible College dispersed throughout the community to help widows and single parent families with cleaning their homes. Some had their worn floors replaced. These college students provided an invaluable service to the community as many of the elderly were just unable to take proper care of their homes.

Rod Parsley and his ministry team were also able to film several programs that will air on his highly publicized television program, Breakthrough seen on TBN and 1,400 other networks around the world. The ADC and coordinator, Mike Hartwell was pleased to receive this assistance from a new partner in ministry for the region. Appalachia is one of the hardest hit during the latest economic downturn with thousands fo men and women out of work.
